image sizes

Dear Support,

We are experiencing a significant increase in the size of the /wp-content/uploads folder on multiple websites. Many image files are being automatically generated in various dimensions upon upload, and a large number of these seem to be unused across the theme and website content.

Could you please help me understand:

  1. Which image sizes are automatically generated by BeTheme after media upload?
  2. Are there any image dimensions that are not required by the theme, and can be safely disabled to reduce storage usage?
  3. Is there an official way to disable or limit the generation of these image sizes (e.g. via code or theme settings)?

We would like to optimize our media library and reduce unnecessary disk usage without affecting the layout or image rendering in the theme.

Thank you in advance for your support and guidance.

Best regards,

  • Hello,

    1) Betheme generates image sizes needed for Blog, Portfolio, Shop, and Post Types added by Betheme. The first three I mentioned are generated based on the theme options settings, and Post Types are pre-defined, and you can find what sizes they generate in betheme/functions/theme-functions.php.

    2) You can remove images of Post types you do not use on your website.

    3) There is no official way to limit the generation of the images. However, we will consider implementing such a feature.

Currently, you would need to contact your web developer to make the necessary adjustments.

    Best regards
