Browser crashes when editing a post or page

We are experiencing an increasing problem where pages and posts can no longer be edited. The browser loads and loads and then crashes completely. The posts/pages can no longer be edited. We can see in the DevConsole that a large number of scripts are being loaded. However, we are not receiving any console errors. What could be the cause of this?

We have already tried deactivating some plugins (Yoast), but without success.
