How can I use the recent news hover animation for the muffin menu widget?

How can I use the recent news hover animation for the muffin menu widget? So that when you hover over the muffin menu widget items they have the same hover animation as the recent news widget.

Sorry but it is unfortunately not possible to move hover effects from one item to another. This needs to many changes in theme files.
