Filters not being applied to Portfolio

I have created a Portfolio page template, as seen in the screenshot, this page is also listed as my portfolio page, however, when i apply the filters the items do not filter down.

I thought maybe because i have used the Snippet code tool to add different categories for my portfolio post type, however, i added in the portfolio category TEST to the standard portfolio taxonomy and this still does not filter
