I want to remove a blue area that is between the menu and the page content, this area only shows up in mobile mode, I don't see it on desktop resolution

Great, we got it now. This is a header background image and looks like you did not turned off Header | Minimalist option under Theme options > Header & Subheader > Header section. So please just turn it off or use below css:
