Load speed of images.

Hi,

I've got a problem with load speed of background images and the revolution slider and I think it's mainly image sizes.

You can see the slider on my home page: http://foundationsofbrilliance.ie/ and the background image on one of my landing pages: http://foundationsofbrilliance.ie/career/

Google speed test gives it an ok rating, except that I should  "Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content" but I'm not a techie at all!?!

When opened in MS Edge it took nearly 20 seconds to load the slider/image on both those pages - and that's with W3TotalCache installed (though I might not have all the settings correct in there).

Now, I'm using images that are either 1350 × 900 or 1300 × 868 with 133px density (usually around 1.4MB in size each) which is large I know, but I don't think I can make them much smaller eh?

How else can I speed up my site?

Please help!

  • Hi,

if you currently use W3Total Cache then we can also recommend MaxCDN service and static styles. Except that we do not have anything else to recommend. You should to know that on page speed server got the most biggest impact and if server is not good enough, then additional tools won't help you at all. You should also know that Revolution Slider is very extended plugin and because of all those options and features, won't be as fast as any simple slider.

    Thanks!
