how to set betheme as a child theme

hello,

I've uploaded the Betheme by FTP in the theme folder and start tuning and customizing it. I've read everywhere on the web that if I want to update wordpress or the theme I have to put my theme as a child theme, can you help me to do that ? I think now my theme is set I guess on parent theme.
