Hide the dates in the blog widget menu

I'm using the "magazine" theme. The dates are taking up a lot of space. Is there a short code or a way that I can prevent the dates being shown in the right hand column on my site

Hi Richard,

are you talking about the dates in Recent posts widget which is in the footer? Because we do not see anything on the right side in sidebar.
