How to shut off sidebar on specific pages ?

The WP site I'm working on is on a "closed system"/ private internal office network. I can not give you links to view it as it only works on the office computers.

I would like to have a sidebar on the MAIN page but not on other pages. What is the best way to do this. I saw something about custom CSS someone else used but not sure it is the same for my use.

Can you please help (without seeing anything) ?

Thanks

  • Yes, I can ;)
There are two places you can set a sidebars, one are page options, when you edit a page you will find them under the muffin builder. There you can set any sidebar layout you desire. This is set locally, for one page only.
Another way to change the sidebars is in theme options>sidebars. This will set the sidebars globally and the local functions will be not able to overwrite those settings.
So basically global settings are more powerful than local settings.
  • I tried both, but not work at all
  • What does not work exactly.

Could you send screenshots of exactly where you are describing

    thanks !
  • 1. In page edit, under the muffin builder, those are the local settings

    2. In theme options>sidebars those are the global settings, the local settings will get overwirten by them.
