going from version 11.5 to the newst

Hi there,

My site has the BeTheme version 11.5.
Now I want to update it to the last version.

Is there any issue I should expect because my version is so outdated?
I have added some custom CSS and scripts.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,
Better to copy and paste your custom css and scripts to other place and then copy it to the newest version.
Here is an instruction on how to update the theme:
    http://themes.muffingroup.com/betheme/documentation/#general
Theme updates will not delete your content unless you have changed the files directly in which case we suggest using a child theme.
We also recommend creating a backup file.
Please remove the theme completely from your theme folder and install a fresh copy. Do not overwrite files.
    thanks
  • Thanks.

I am using the BeTheme child to be sure my customization stays.

Custom CSS is added to the style.css.
How can I add an script to the child theme? I have an script by the Header --> Extras.

    Cheers
  • All about Child theme here:

If you will copy your script from header -> extras from old version to the newest copy of betheme to the same location, you won't lose it while updating.

    Thanks.
  • Thanks.

I have it at he same place it was by the old version, but it looks like different for a mobile device.

What and where I need to check it?

By the way, which is the Visual composer version I get with new BeTheme version?

    Cheers
  • You can check the version of the Visual Composer (now WPBakery) in BeTheme > Install Plugins.
Theme changed a little bit from 11 version, so changes will be expected.
Are the changes making a lot of issues?
    Thanks.
  • Fortunately not really issues until now, still checking though.
I see theme options is an apart menu item by the back-end.

This (custom) script for the Header is not working properly with new version. For desktop it is good, but not for mobile.

WPBakery: Installed version:4.9.2  Available version: 5.5.2
BeTheme is updated to the July 27 version.
If I click upon "Update" it asks for an license (which I do  not have)

    Cheers

  • Hi, Script works good now. It was only CSS that needed to be adjusted cause they have new class names now :)

So awaiting for your answer about WPBakery only.

    Cheers
  • Please just disable all of them, then try again.
Also, send me a screenshot of this error message.
    Thanks.
  • Hi Pablo,

It has worked. After deactivating plugin I was able to update it.

Everything looks like working the way it should.

    Thanks for all.
  • Hi Pablo,

It was too soon to say everything is allright.

Menu is working for desktop but submenus does not show om mobile.

    What could this be?

    Cheers

Using this custom CSS I got the submenus to show.

    #Top_bar #menu ul li.submenu li.submenu .menu-toggle {
    color: #FFF;
    }

Is there an option inside theme options for this?

    cheers
  • It can be issue of plugins too, test it with all plugins disabled.
I cannot say anything because I don't have a link to your website yet.
Which CSS do you have in mind?
    Thanks

  • Sorry but there is no option for this in the theme. Only custom CSS will work.
    thanks
