Featured image not overwriting default image

Hello, I have set up a default image to show for blog posts, however the intention is that this is a fall back and I would like / assumed that adding a feature image on a specific post would overwrite this and show in the Header. This seemed to work for a recent post but not the latest.is there a known issue where by if a post has been in draft for some time and then a featured image is added it doesn’t update the banner (the post still has the default image in theme options).

  • Hi,
Please always attach a link so we can check it out. If the page is offline(localhost) then our help will be limited, you will have to contact us when the page is online. Also please make sure that the page is not under maintenance before you provide us the link.
It is always a good idea to also attach a screenshot, for that use services like snag.gy or pasteboard.co
    thanks
  • Hello? The site is https://holidayduo.com. The specific post I am referring to is not published yet as when looking at preview it’s not showing the correct image (from the featured image). I have recently tried to create another post and preview and again it’s not showing the featured image in the header, they continue to show the Default image I defined in theme options / header & subheader / header / background image.
  • Hey,
sorry but the preview option might not work with the MuffinBuilder. It will work with the default Wordpress editor if you are using it.
If it does not work, try to disable all of your plugins first, maybe one of them is causing this problem.

The header image is set in the page options while the image below it is the featured image.
    thanks
  • Hello, I seemed to have narrowed it down a little. All pages seem to work ok. If I go and remove the featured image from a page it reverts to the default I set in theme options and if I add a different featured image it shows up ok (see https://holidayduo.com/our-story). However for any blog post this does not seem to work anymore. For new posts if I set the featured image it is just ignored and shows the default image from theme options. What is odd is that even if I go back to an older blog post and remove the featured image, it removes it from the top of the post but not from the header image - it remains as it was before, not reverting back to the default image from theme options. Is there a simple setting I am missing here? The featured image is obviously being applied for the main image in the post but no longer appears to be updating the header image (the image that is shown below the menu bar).
  • Further to the last message, you can see this in action on the latest blog post - https://holidayduo.com/blog/europe/spain/the-best-pintxos-in-san-sebastian

The featured image is set, and showing at the top of the main content area but the header under the menu is showing the white houses, not the food photo say the top of the content area as it should?

    Thanks again,
    Aaron
  • Hello,
I'm not sure if I understand.
Are you uploading the header image for single post here: http://prntscr.com/ouhxs5 ?
And after removing that image and updating the page it's still there?
    Thanks
  • Thank you! Obviously something extremely simple I was missing. I didn’t realise that pages and posts behaved differently here. On pages I don’t bed to add header image it picks it up from featured image but on posts I need to also add in the header image. Is there a reason why this is different? Thanks again.
  • The featured image is always after (below) the header image.
If header image is not uploaded, then it's getting it from main blog page.
It shouldn't take the image for header from featured image.

If you have some other questions, feel free to ask.
    Thanks
