Revolution Slider crashed site. Disabled and now I can't reactivate
I have a long standing website that has been running fine over the years and haven't made any changes to. This week I noticed the site was not loading correctly and discovered that Revolution Slider was at fault. I disabled the plugin however I can no longer activate it due to a fatal error:
Fatal error: Uncaught Error: [] operator not supported for strings in /home3/key/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/inc_php/framework/base_admin.class.php:73 Stack trace: #0 /home3/key/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/revslider_admin.php(237): UniteBaseAdminClassRev::addMetaBox('Revolution Slid...', Object(UniteSettingsAdvancedRev), Array, NULL) #1 /home3/key/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/revslider_admin.php(68): RevSliderAdmin->addSliderMetaBox() #2 /home3/key/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/revslider_admin.php(40): RevSliderAdmin->init() #3 /home3/key/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/revslider.php(147): RevSliderAdmin->__construct('/home3/key/publ...') #4 /home3/key/public_html/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php(2300): include('/home3/key/publ...') #5 /home3/key/public_html/wp-admin/plugins.php(191): plugin_sandbox_scrape('revslider/revsl...') #6 {main} thrown in /home3/key/public_html/wp-content/plugins/revslider/inc_php/framework/base_admin.class.php on line 73

Hello,
Please, deactivate all other plugins, try to activate the Revolution Slider then, and check if the error still appears.
Moreover, if you are using a child theme, switch to parent, and recheck it.
Thanks
Hi Phil. I tried this and the problem still persists.
Please attach a link to your website so we can check it out. If the page is offline(localhost), then our help will be limited. You will have to contact us when the page is online. Also, please make sure that the page is not under maintenance before you provide us the link.
Thanks

I have noticed that you have a very old version of Betheme.
Please, update it, and check if the issue persists.
Please head to the link we provided below, where you will find all of the information on how you can update the theme successfully.
But before the update, please, do a backup of your website with the Duplicator plugin for safety.

Hi Phil,
Thank for you that information. From the link listed it appears I will have to delete all of my theme files in order to complete the update. Is there a way to preserve the content and customizations for my current website if I proceed?
Thanks.
You will not lose anything because everything because these data are stored in the database. You might lose it only if you modified the database.
Also, if you do a backup of your website with the Duplicator, you will be secured.
Thanks
