How to remove qTranslate-X plugin without breaking my website?

edited March 2022 in BeBuilder

Hello,

I'm trying to help a friend, who was abandoned by his web developers and his site (https://aronbg.eu) is using the BeTheme. It was outdated, so now after buying new license for the theme and installing the latest versions of the plugins, the site is operational.

However when trying to add a new page for example a white screen with message "There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions." is displayed.

As it turns out this is related with the qTranslate-X plugin which was used for bilingual support. I understand that the plugin is not longer (or never was) supported with BeTheme, but the problem is that I cannot switch it off, because if off the whole site is getting broken and it is not working at all.

Can you help me to work around this issue or advise on how to COPY the currently available pages to new pages which are not going to rely on qTranslate-X. Potentially maybe in fresh installation without this plugin installed.

Best regards,

Nikolay

  • Hi,

Can you tell me what happens when you deactivate this plugin in more detail, please? For example, are the visuals corrupted, or is the website's complete functionality?

The error appears only when you try to add new pages or in editing existing ones gives the same result?

    Best regards

  • Hello,

When I switched off the plugin qTranslate-X, this is what is happening - see image aron1

When trying to edit a page with BeBuilder, a js error is displayed in the console, and when trying to Update the page the operation will not be completed (aron2)

On some pages the BeBuilder is distort like this (aron3)

I really hope you could help me with this.

    Best regards,

    Nikolay

  • When I deactivated all unsupported plugins, I was able to add new pages and edit the existing ones. Also, their view worked.

You will have to work on a menu in Appearance -> Menus because it has doubled menu items for both languages.

Also, it would be best if you renamed the page names to remove these brackets.

Moreover, I noticed a couple of images whose URLs refer to a different domain. If the website was migrated from another domain, you could use the following plugin:

    http://muffingroup.com/plugins/mfn-migrate-cb.zip

It will help you change all of the URLs in the Muffin Builder and Theme Options at once without switching each one manually.

You can also use this tool when switching to SSL and will use HTTPS.

    Thanks
