can portfolio pages be substantially different?

there are about 400px of things between the menu bar and the content i'd rather get rid of--the purple looking bar, the "Published by" line, and i think i'd rather not even have the featured image.

i can't find where all this is specified, but i'm wondering if i can modify it?

alternately, is there a better method than using Portfolio entries (i guess i could figure out something other than the Portfolio item in Muffin Builder on my top page)?

  • Hey,

    to remove this header background image section, please activate "Header Minimalist" option under Theme options > Header & Subheader > Header section.

    Unfortunately there is no better method that using Portfolio entries.
  • thank you! that definitely helps since the thick dark band is gone now.
    is there a way to remove anything else between the menu and the featured image?
  • If you will send us url to page from screenshot, we'll tell you how to remove all these things.

    can you see that ok?

    be great if it could look this simple:
    image
  • Use below css and this will do the trick:
    .single-portfolio #Subheader { display: none !important; }
    .single-portfolio .post-header { display: none !important; }
  • fantastic! thank you, thank you, thank you so much!
  • sorry, one more thing about
    if you'd be so kind as to educate me: i used Chrome's Inspector to find the 30px margin that i want to change to 0px (see below, looks correct in Chrome)

    i've tried adding things like
    #Content { padding-top: 0px; }
    or
    .single-portfolio #Content { padding-top: 0px; !important; }
    to Custom CSS but neither seems to have any effect--there's still space. can you tell me what i'm doing wrong?

  • The css you provided above, is good and the only working one. But as we see, you have an error in other css lines and you should fix them if you want to work with custom css.
  • this is all the custom CSS i have. the first three lines you guys provided, so where would an error come from?

    .single-portfolio #Subheader { display: none !important; }
    .single-portfolio .post-header { display: none !important; }
    .single-portfolio .section-portfolio-header { display: none !important; }
    .single-portfolio #Content { padding-top: 0px; !important; }
  • What we see in the code does not look as above. What for are these tags [Links visible only for registered users] (//)? Maybe that's the problem.
  • omg thank you--i commented something out wrong!
    but now, even if i remove that line completely, it still doesn't work--the space remains.
  • You still have an error in css. There is and error related with wrong css code. We recommend to verify whole css. The last line got 2 x ";" what is wrong.
  • so, by "The css you provided above, is good and the only working one" you weren't referring to .single-portfolio #Content { padding-top: 0px; !important; } ? then, what did i do wrong?
  • Does

    .single-portfolio #Content { padding-top: 0px; !important; }

    look good for you? Because this line is broken for sure.
  • i'm no expert, that's why i followed the instructions in your documentation (

    12.4 Advanced theme customization) as best i could, then asked if you'd be so kind as to educate me when it didn't work. did you get a different impression? did i offend you somehow?

  • We are just trying to tell you that you did mistake. But if you don't know how to work with css, we recommend to contact with your website developer.

    Thanks for understanding!
  • that took a week. not as impressed as i once was. thanks for understanding
