Domain change

edited February 2023 in Theme support

Hi! I created a website on a test domain. Do I have to unregister the site before changing the links and register again after the change?

  • Hello. I am looking an answer for the same question.

  • Hi,

All of the themes on the Envato market are under the same license. Details: https://themeforest.net/licenses/standard

You can use one license per end product to use any pre-built website you desire or mix them, but you cannot use the theme license on two domains.

The only exceptions are for subdomains or subfolders. You can register unlimited subdomains with one license key if the main domain is registered under the same key.

This also applies to subfolders on localhost installations.

So, if you registered the theme firstly on the main domain, you can use it on both the main, and subdomain.

You can also check the link below about setting a staging domain:

    Thanks

Hello, if I understand it correctly, I can create a staging site on my own hosting with a subdomain i.e. wpdev.mysite.com and after I am done, I migrate the site to the client's domain clientsite.com and I can use the same license for both of these domains?

My client has to have his old site online while I am creating a new site and also he is going to change hosting provider so it will be safer to develop a website on a temporary staging site before moving to the final domain, but I am worried about theme license will be misused.

  • Yes, that is right. The pattern you mentioned qualifies as a staging domain, so you can use this license on both of your domains.

    Best regards
