  Hi,

  To ensure your website is compliant with the latest Google requirements and handles user consent correctly, please keep the following technical points in mind:

  1. The Role of the Theme: BeTheme is designed to act as a bridge between your users and Google’s services. When a user makes a choice in the Cookie Consent bar, the theme sends a specific signal (default or update) to the Google Tag (gtag).
  2. Signal vs. Blocking: It is important to understand that the theme itself does not create or "own" Google’s cookies (like _ga or _gid). Therefore, the theme cannot physically delete these cookies from a user's browser. Instead, it sends a "denied" status to Google. It is then the responsibility of the cookie provider (Google) to respect that signal and stop processing data for that user.
  3. Ensure you have provided the correct Google Tag ID in Betheme -> Theme options -> SEO.

  • The theme will then automatically handle the ad_storage, analytics_storage, and the new v2 parameters (ad_user_data and ad_personalization).

  1. How to verify: We strongly recommend testing your setup using the official Google Tag Assistant.
     • Once connected, check the "Consent" tab.
     • You should see the consent states change from "Granted" to "Denied" (or vice versa) in real-time as you interact with the cookie bar on your site.

  If Tag Assistant confirms that the signals are being sent correctly, your integration is technically sound and compliant with Google's architecture.
