I'm not sure what is causing it, but we're getting 404 errors on the home page when using the Revolution Slider - it looks like it's trying to include the following files below from ourdomain.com/public/assets/js [Links visible only for registered users] instead of setting the full path including wp-content/ and the path to the revolution slider under the theme.

Is this a bug or possibly a setting we've missed?

    No, this is not a bug for sure because as you can see, we use revolution slider on hundreds of sites with no problems. You should definitely look for a problem on server side because 404 errors are not related with theme. You can switch to default wp theme and you will get the same 404 errors.

    My programmer said:
    Uh, that makes no sense. 
    The URL that is being generated is a path which can not possibly exist. ([Links visible only for registered users].)
    That's not a URL that will ever exist in wordpress.

    He gave me a more in depth answer to previous comment.

    To be clear, the 404 errors we are getting are those including JavaScript files that come packaged with the theme and are not "server errors" in the sense that it's anything we have changed.  We have the latest copy of the theme and have not altered it in any way other than a few small style changes in a child theme.  These are the URLs that the theme is generating in the header to reference the included javascript files:
    It should be obvious from looking at these that the generated URL is missing wp-config/plugins/revslider/ before it gets into the 'public/assets' part of the path.

    We are just not sure why or if this may be some sort of issue with the theme.  Have you ever seen this before or can you offer any kind of assistance?  We can fix it by altering the theme itself but that seems like a heavy-handed approach.

    Sorry but we did never saw anything like that before. If the files comes with revolution slider, it is still not related with theme because we are not plugin's author. But to be honest we did never saw anything like that before and we do not understand why you get 404 error on those files. You should try to re-install plugin files thru FTP (remove current files and upload completely new thru FTP only). That's all we can suggest in this case.
