Revolution slider too high for homepage, unable to limit the height of the slider

Hi, 

With the betheme I am using the architect layout, which has a beautiful first slider on the homepage. I have copied that slider and used my own images, but they keep on being higher than the website page itself. Every time I change the settings or setup a new slider in one way or another the images remain too high. Even when everything is set to auto, please have a look at:
The demo theme does not have this issue, but I am unable to figure out how this is done.
Do I need to upload a smaller image? Do I need to choose a specific setting in the revolution slider? What am I missing here?
I need some help to get this fixed.
