Re-Size Featured Image on Blog Posts

How would I go about re-sizing the image on a blog post? The featured image on a regular blog post appears to be about 576p wide, which overpowers most of my blog entries, which don't have a lot of text. Can I set the image size to be smaller on the blog post? Or can I remove the image altogether from blog posts? (but still have it show as a thumbnail on my home page)

To change image size, you must play with add_image_size() function in functions/theme-functions.php file.

@eworldlinx Sizes can be changed only in functions/theme-functions.php file where add_image_size() functions are. But if you want to remove something, then please send us url to page from where you want to remove images and we'll have a look on it.

I changed line 32 to: add_image_size( 'blog-single', 1200, 800, true ); // blog - single

but the featured image on a single blog post page didn't change at all. Can you help me?

@agry They did not changed because after that images must be uploaded again or instead you can use https://wordpress.org/plugins/force-regenerate-thumbnails/ plugin.

How can I now make sure that this line of code works from my child theme, so that updates of betheme will not effect this?

Do I just add this line to my functions.php?

You can try to add this function under child theme but we are not sure if this will work.

Hi!

How would I change the width of the blog post thumbnails shown here ( http://test.i-comply.co.uk/blog/ ) to stop them cropping the image? (ie. set size at 1200x480)

@THISISALLGOOD Images sizes can be changed under functions/theme-functions.php file where add_image_size() functions are. But if you don't know how, you should contact with your web developer.

Yes, if you edit a post and go to page options you will find the 'template' option. Set it to 'intro header'
