Hi Anja, you set portfolio layout which does not have titles. If you want titles, like we got for example on http://themes.muffingroup.com/betheme/portfolio please change portfolio layout to default.

You must move whole functions from theme-functions.php into functions.php file. But please notice that we do not offer file customizations so if you don't know how to do this, you must contact with your site developer.

It means that problem is not related with our theme so you must look for a problem somewhere else. If it's slider, then we can report it to plugin's author and maybe they will have a look on it closer while future updates.
