Yes, we know but this is the only header type where menu can be centered. Unfortunately with your header type, it won't be possible.

Yes, now it works. Previously wasn't working. The padding you refer to, is an Action Bar and can be removed under Theme options > Menu & Action Bar > Action Bar section.
