Nevermind, I got it figured out, had a typo in the file name! Thanks.

I did that but didn't work. I activated the child theme, created the folder includes and then created the file "header-top-area.php" in that folder but nothing happened. Is that how it should be done?

Can I use HTML though? If I wanted to have the phone number/email on one side (right) and then the slogan on the left? Basically I am trying to have 2 additional links up there, but on the left side, to even out the action bar. Thanks,

Ok, thanks for the help. Do you know if there is a way to have the social media icons show up on the navigation bar? similar to how I have it set up on the first link: http://michaelfroseth.com/clients/beyond/full/
