Also - I've just done a preview on the new parent update and it will require a lot of work. I'm concerned that this will take a whole new rebuild - and I don't have the time. Can i make the change and go back to the child theme? Is it worth trying?

Okay - so I've tried all of these. Going to parent theme has changed the homepage- which isn't very nice. I deactivated all the plugins too - then changed the theme editor - still no change. I am at a loss
