Found the problem. It was caused by the parent theme update. I needed to install a child theme. It was not on the server side. My server can create directories.

Also, I tried to reinstall and received the following error message: Could not create directory. /home8/leekybeh/public_html/wp-content/themes/betheme/ Theme install failed.
