Its also the same with the other pages....if i set a featured image for any of other pages, it overrides the HEADER IMAGE

So i have figured out that the 'FEATURED IMAGE' in the sidebar overrides the "HEADER IMAGE" setting.... If i have a featured image set - then the header image shows the featured image centered in the header - instead of my set header image…
