Actually..I figured it out. I had hidden page titles and subheaders. Now my question if it's possible to hide subheader on pages but keep them on posts?

The thing is I never changed anything on the child theme. Just updated the theme. And the child things works fine on the live site with the older theme.

The staging site had an updated version of php. I've updated the live site's php as well. I activated the parent theme and the site is functioning. Is there a way to get it to work with the child theme?

I switched my theme to parent and the background colours were not doubled. I switched it back to the child and it was fixed. It doesn't make sense to me but that seemed to have worked...
