Just a note - I removed !important, because when I scrolled down the menu kept the padding and showed outside of the menu area.

you can do this under Appearance > Menus section. Description is under each menu item. But if you don't see such option, activate it in the right top corner where Screen Options section is.

hmm eg. menu item background is blue … on hover its red on active its grey .. so the menu settings works in muffin options.and for me i want change instead of color a image behind the menu item
