Please, open the Header Builder, open the header options, and turn on Header layered on top of content. You can try this and check if the display suits you.

Another thing is the mega menu isn't easy to click...It always jumps away if you know what I mean. Can one change that?

That is because of how Elementor anchor links works. It highlights the menu item only where the section ID is placed and not for the whole section.

I can see that you used the blog item. If you want to exclude the categories from there, open the item options, and there you will find a field to show only selected categories.
