@shamimakhtar19 In our opinion and after the tests we did, auto-update is not so great and may bring more harm than good. Lot's of our customers uses terrible hosting services that for example can just stop files update during this process without reason. It means that if such user will decide to use auto-update feature, may wake up one day and see that his site is just broken and does not work because during auto update process, the files hasn't been uploaded successfully. It's a huge problem and that's why so far there is nothing better like manual update.
@doganakgun Probably into public_html but we don't know your hosting and we don't know how it works so your admin/website developer would be able to answer on your question for sure. As far as we know, it would be public_html folder probably.
@tnethers There is no need to change theme because whole operation takes less than a minute. You can change it to random theme of course but it's not necessary.
@Modern_Webz We do not have auto-update included because it's not so stable and safe as manual or FTP updates. When you do the update yourself, you have better control on what is happening and if all files has been transferred properly. During the auto-updates, you do not have such control and that’s why such update process may bring more harm than good. We have used it for a while in the past but we found it’s not safe enough and that’s why we decided to remove it.
However, if you do not care about this to much and still would like to have an auto-update, please use WP Envato Market plugin.
Hi, have an issue which relates to update. I made update via wordpress dashboard, meaning removing old version and uploding new one. No changes to files were made.
Everything is fine, except the home page shows info "error in connection with database". the other pages are just fine, except this basic one. BR. Jarek
@bluefunk1968 Sorry but are you saying that you have "connection database error" on homepage only but the other pages are fine? If that's what you say, could you send us link to page where you got this error and also link to page that works fine? That's quite amazing and because we've never seen anything like this before, would like to have a look.
I have made multiple changes to theme files and custom code etc, what would be the best way to update to current theme? Can you provide link with instructions please?
When I check the theme details it says my current version is 14.7, is that correct?
I get regular update notifications from Envato Market (themeforest,) but I have no idea what's changed. Is it the base theme, one of the plugins, etc.? Is there a way to know what has changed from one release to the next?
Also, is there a "preferred" method of updating the entire package of themes and plugins (js_composer, layerslider and revslider?)
You only update the theme downloading it from themeforest. The instruction is in the previous comment. The plugins are updated in the wordpress plugins panel.
Since prettyphoto was replaced with Magnific Popup is there anything we need to update on our pages? When I click on a thumbnail photo I am getting a large image popup with a lightbox popup on top that as well. I have to close two large images to get back to the page.
