  Is there a way to fix this without updating the theme. I just afraid some customization from the previous developer will be erased

  Please, turn off all of the plugins, and check if this issue still appears.

  If this will not help then it means that probably this very old version of Betheme is causing this issue, and it need to be updated.

  If you are afraid of losing something from your Bethem, you can do a backup of your website using Duplicator plugin.
