OK so I still don't get the bar at the top (second image). Why is that like that? How do I change it? Do I need to activate plug-in?

Ah ha! I got it. Go to Pages. Go to Backend Editor. Click on the little pencil symbols and suddenly everything is revealed! YAAAAAY! :D
