this ie version ended up working (displaying correctly) when i pointed it to 2n.nimans.net - but didnt work (displaying correctly) when it was pointed (internally) at http://intranet/VoN/ thats why i was asking you, as it may be the internal server.

It may be the internal (intranet) server that it is running on. does the theme need any special versions of PHP (etc) Thanks Ric

http://2nsite.nimans.net user :2n pass : 2n is the temporary cloned location. with wordpress 4.2.2 and it looks fine in internet explorer 11 let me know when youve seen it and i will update wordpress to show you difference
