there is a white space that appears between the menu and first section.  How can I get rid of this?

Not sure what you call this area of the screen between the menu and top of the page but it sure is a big waste of space! 

How do I make them bigger?Is there any way to move them to the menu- where the white is?

We have only the item we presented above. If you expect the images to open in popup on click, then we do not have such item included.

@SimonaAdvents You can't. Social icons exist only in the right top corner where Action Bar is. Just look at our demo how social icons above menu looks like.

To activate social menu icons in header, you must set social links under Theme options > Social section and also activate Action Bar under Theme options > Menu & Action Bar &

It means you set additional menu instead of social icons under Appearance > Menus > Manage locations section.
