Thanks @Brian_Barbini, so to change menu items background color on hover, you need to use extra css:.header-simple #Top_bar #menu ul li:hover { background: #000 !important; }

2) Under Theme options > Menu & Action Bar > Menu section, you probably set menu to align it to the right side and that's why overlap search icon.
